About Me:
I'm a Designer in the Workplace sector at RTKL Associates in Baltimore MD. I graduated in the Spring of 2005 from Texas Tech University with a Master of Architecture and a Master of Business Administration. I've recently completed my IDP hours and will be taking the ARE 4.0 later this year. Over the past several years I've been actively educating and helping transition my firm and local community towards BIM methodologies.
Reason for attending this event
Recently I've been championing the use of BIM to facilitate integrated project delivery and sustainable design. The cultivation period for these trends has come and gone. Their synergistic nature has begun to transform the building industry and will inevitable have a profound impact on the built environment and in turn, the world in which we live. The Change the World Convention promises to provide a dynamic environment to discuss one of the most profound transitions within the field of Architecture in recent times. Who wouldn't want to be a witness to that?

Presentation Downloads

I've been desperately waiting for the presentations to be available for download so that I can start summarizing the event for an upcoming lecture. Hopefully some of you are doing the same. You can download some of the presentations HERE.

Closing Plenary Session

Calvin Kam invited all the bloggers to come up and say a few words. I have to say its a lot easier to hide behind the computer and blog. Here were my closing thoughts.

"I’ve been working on coming up with a motivating metaphor for my experiences. Unfortunately the one I’ve come up with involves visualizing all of you in bathing suits.

Let me explain: I look out in the audience and I see a few types of people. Many of you have taken a big giant leap into the BIM pool years ago and are now reapi… Continue

BIMstorm

We are sitting in the Breakfast Plenary Session: BIM Storm Eco. The presenters have titled the presentation BIMstorm: BIM for the people.

The discussion is essentially about Open Standards. Its about people across the world collaborating in real-time. The more and faster you share information with others the more relevant you are.

During the session the audience has been logging on to http://BIMstorm.com/mobile and creating BIM models that are being populated live in the Boston area.

Someone… Continue

Breakfast and BIM

While snacking on some light breakfast fare I reunited with past employers from my internship days in Dallas, and bonded with my tablemates by discussing the trials of transitioning to BIM. The topics of conversation were the same as they have been for the past several years: training and personnel, hardware specs, implementation percentages, etc. However, we agreed the long pole in the tent (as my clients often recite) was the change in workflow. The conversation had a positive overtone that ca… Continue

ONUMA Planning System

During early schematics we often create complex relational diagrams. I’ve been looking for a software that will help us create dynamic diagrams that link graphical information to a database that can be imp… Continue

Hi Brian,
To answer your question, the presentation slideshows & supporting images will be posted 'in the near future'.
Although nobody I've talked to can give a specific ETA, I'm told that all conference attendees will get an e-mail notification when it is done.
